Need to promote Manipuri nationalism stressed

Retired IAS officer RK Nimai has called for promotion of the idea of Manipuri Nationalism in both the hill and valley districts of the State.
He made the statement during the oath taking ceremony of the new office bearers of Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) at Manipur Press Club today.
After administering the oath, RK Nimai continued that there used to be a widespread sense of Manipuri nationalism in the hill districts till the early 1980s.Underscoring the need to promote Manipuri Nationalism in the hill districts again, he added that Manipur can never become a vibrant society if there is no uniform development and if the hill districts are set aside.

The retired bureaucrat also said that the role of youth to solve the problem besieging Manipur is immense.
He also said that most of the changes in the world were brought by youth.
Saying that every Mani-puri must support those who dedicate their lives to the cause of the State, RK Nimai maintained that a collective effort is needed to uplift the socio-politics of Manipur and to safeguard the environment.
Manipur is known for its rich culture and prowess in sports, RK Nimai said while reflecting on the need to identify the areas where the State is lagging behind, and work together on it.
He also stressed on the need to elect leaders who take the State more seriously than their political interest.
"Good things will automatically happen to Manipur if we elect good leaders," he added.
Meanwhile, Ashem Prince has been appointed as the president of MAYOL while Suresh Koijam and Laishram James have been appointed as vice president and general secretary respectively.
The other elected office bearers are Sanasam Abhiraj (assistant general secretary), Lamyanba Sarangthem ( finance secretary), Birendra Thangjam (assistant finance secretary), Tongbram Nara-daya (organisation secretary), Kshetrimayum Osia (assistant organisation secretary), Mayengbam Premananda (publicity secretary), Konjengbam Sama- nanda (assistant publicity secretary ), Leishemba Chingangbam (auditor), Dinku Longjam (office secretary) and executive members Thoudam Priyananda, Herojit Thounaojam, Maisnam Hiranati and Laishram Ranbir.
