Imphal, February 18 2024:
The Imagi Meira has urged Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly to take a concrete resolution against Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact and to safeguard Manipur in the upcoming session of the State Assembly which will commence on February 28.In a statement, the Imagi Meira also appealed to all the House Members to furnish the preliminary report of the complaint taken up by Privilege and Ethics Committee against the 10 Kuki legislators, deliberate on the issue and take action against them (the Kuki MLAs) .
Of the 10 Kuki MLAs who have been demanding separate administration, six were also involved in seeking affiliation of some schools in Churachandpur and Kangpokpi to CBSE without following the standard norm, it added.
Further demanding that a resolution must be taken to abrogate the SoO pact during the Assembly session as evidence of Kuki militants violating the ground rules of the pact are all around, the Imagi Meira continued that SoO pact shouldn't be continued under any circumstances.
Continuing that Kuki militants haven't stopped attacking Meitei villages and several Meiteis got displaced only recently, the Imagi Meira wondered why Central forces are carrying out search operations in the valley districts whenever Kuki militants launch attacks from the hills.
The village volunteers are only safeguarding Meitei villages and without them many more villages in the peripheral areas would have been burnt and flattened by Kuki militants and their associates, the Imagi Meira continued and demanded that no cases should be lodged against any Meitei village volunteer.
The Imagi Meira cautioned that they will launch strong agitation along with people if their demands are not entertained.
