AR helps avert major loss of life, property in fire

Chandel, February 18 2024:
Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) helped avert a major fire incident at Saibol Joupi village near IndoMyanmar border under Chandel district on Feb 16 .
According to a release issued by IGAR (S), a major fire broke out, presumably from a short circuit, in Saibol village at 7:30 pm on the fateful night.
Upon noticing the fire breaking out and spreading to adjacent houses, the sentry raised the fire alarm.
The security forces' fire-fighting party was immediately dispatched to rescue the civilians trapped inside the burning houses and to bring the fire under control.
The forces brought the fire udner control after one hour of laborious effort and major loss of life and property was averted.
Around 8-10 persons trapped inside these houses were rescued and two patients with bum injuries were brought to the medical room for treatment by the Medical Officer.
Out of approximately 25 houses, the forces were able to save 22 houses from further damage.
