Art Gallery opens at Kwakeithel

Imphal, February 18 2024:
An art gallery named 'Imphal Art Gallery' has been opened on Sunday at Kwakeithel Leimakhujam Leikai by commissioner (art & culture) M Joy Singh.
The art gallery run by State Kala Akademi awardee fine artist Robin Wahengbam at his residence is dedicated to his late father Ibohal.
The gallery has over 40 art works contributed by 20 senior contemporary artists of the state.
After opening the art gallery , M Joy Singh said setting up of 'Imphal Art Gallery' will help and give new spirit to emerging artists of the state and one significant sight at the gallery has been collection of art works of 20 senior contemporary artists of Manipur.
He also expressed hope that the ladder laid by senior artists will definitely benefit young and emerging artists.
At the gallery launch event, Robin Wahengbam said opening of 'Imphal Art Gallery' has given a platform to artists of the state and this has been made possible due to encouragement from his father.
My father was not an artist but very fond of art and he inspired me to become a fine artist, Robin recounted adding that he had long been dreaming of opening an art gallery.
