Man accused in abduction case arrested

Imphal West district police on Sunday arrested a man who was allegedly involved in the abduction of three people from Phubala, Bishnupur dis trict on February 14.The arrested person has been identified as Leishangthem Naobi alias Yogen Meetei (31), son of Inaotombi of Langol Game Village Punshi Leikai, an active cadre of the proscribed KCP (Noyon).
According to a report, Imphal West district police arrested Naobi from Khuman Pali road.
He joined KCP (Noyon) in 2007 and underwent basic military training in Myanmar under army number 379 (17th batch) and presently worked as self-styled sergeant major under self-styled lieutenant Chairenlakpa and self-styled lieutenant Punshiba.
Naobi confided that he was involved in the abduction of three people from Phubala on February 14 and were later released on Saturday.
Two mobile phones, a sum of Rs 73,100 and a numberless Honda I-Vtec car (white) were seized from him, the report said, while informing that a case has been registered at Imphal police station in this regard.
The arrested person was produced before the judicial magistrate and remanded to police custody for six days, it added.
