Bodies petition PM, HM to free Pambei-led UNLF trio

Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) has reportedly submitted memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah through chief minister N Biren demanding unconditional release of the three arrested members of the Pambei-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF).
In a release, FOCS Information & Public Relations secretary Nerish Mangang reminded that the Government of India and the Pambei-led UNLF had signed a historic peace agreement on November 29, 2023.In the midst of the process to initiate political dialogue between the parties of the peace pact, the National Investigation Agency, Assam Rifles and state police commando arrested the peace signatory outfit's chief of army staff, intelligence officer and a sergeant on March 13 against which FOCS along with 13 like-minded organisations have been launching democratic movement for their unconditional release.
On Thursday, representatives of FOCS and the 13 organisations met chief minister N Biren and handed over memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, Nerish informed.
Pointing out that people cherished and put their trust on the signing of peace pact, he expressed apprehension that the acts of NIA will derail the peace process and bring an abrupt end to the peace process.
Drawing the attention of Prime Minister, the memorandum reiterated the demand for releasing the three apprehended UNLF cadres unconditionally, in consideration of the general sentiment of the people.
Mayai Yumpham Khuman Kanglei Apunba Etinpham (MYKKAE) also demanded authority concerned to release the three members of the Pambei-led UNLF who were arrested by the NIA, before the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Friday, MYKKAE spokesperson Asem Roshan said that a 4-member team of MYKKAE went to Delhi on March 23 and submitted memorandum to the Prime Minister through the PMO demanding release of the three members of Pambei-led UNLF, which is signed a peace agreement with the government.
The team also submitted copies of the same memorandum to the Union Home Minister and the chief minister of Manipur.
He also informed that the chief minister of Manipur was urged to initiate steps to ensure release of the three members to which the CM assured all necessary help in the regard.
