Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated widely

The Muslim community celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr widely across Thoubal district yesterday.
Eid-ul-Fitr is a holy festival of the Muslims which marks the end of the fasting sacred month of Ramadan and signifies the start of a new Islamic new year.
To mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, a large number of people took part in the namaz ceremony held at Moijing Idigah Lampak organised by Thoubal Moijing Idigah Committee.
Eminent personalities including former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, former Adhyaksha of Thoubal District Zilla Parisad Md Abdul Latif, former Pradhan of Moijing Gram Panchayat Md Waris and leaders of Muslim community among others took part in the ceremony.
Speaking on the sidelines, Okram Ibobi while extending best wishes to the Muslims on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, prayed for peaceful co-existence among the different indigenous communities of the State.
He prayed that may peace and sanity prevail in crisis stricken Manipur.
Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles with local population shared the message of caring, sacrifice and peace by collectively organising an Eid celebration at Sangaiyumpham village in Thoubal district.
During the event sharbat and sweets were distributed among local populace, said a statement by the Assam Rifles.
Around 400 people including children attended the mega function.
