MAYOL campaign advocates stronger society

Ihe campaign initiated by Manipur Youth League (MAYOL), aimed at fostering a vibrant and prosperous Manipuri society, continued at various localities in the state.
Collaborating with local clubs, organisations, and Meira Paibi Lups, the campaign endeavours to raise public awareness regarding the true essence of electoral politics for the betterment of Manipur.
The campaign activities, which include poster dissemination and mass awareness drives, were recently held at Kakwa Lamdaibung and Uchiwa, according to a statement of MAYOL, adding that prominent figures including Missing Committee president RK Bidyaluxmi, MAYOL president Asem Prince, retired IAS RK Nimai, former DESAM president Nameirakpam Edison, Uchiwa GP pradhan Heikrujam Indrajit, and MAYOL generalsecretary Laishram James addressed the gathering.
The speakers highlighted the role of elections in foster ing development and a more cohesive society and also em phasised the importance of refraining from accepting cash for votes, participating in feasts, proxy voting, or attending road shows/rallies.
The collective resolve was to stand against the influence of money and muscle power, while staunchly upholding the sanctity of voting rights.
On Wednesday, mass awareness cum poster campaign on 'Vote for National Regeneration' was conducted at Kumbi and Bishnupur bazars.
According to MAYOL pub licity secretary Mayengbam Premananda, president Ashem Prince and advocate Thokchom Suresh highlighted about non participation of people in politics and the general idea of the public that candidates and political par ties are only essential for election sidelining the importance of voters and the election.
They also stated that free and fair election will only lead to positive change and development in the society.
During the campaigns, several resolutions were also adopted including to refrain from accepting bribes from political candidates, stop participation in poll festivities including feasts and election rallies/roadshows, avoid proxy voting, end the trend of using muscle power to induce voters and uphold one's Right to Vote.
