Persons displaced by the ethnic conflict in the state have resolved to approach the government for address ing their grievances and seek public support for the same.
The resolution was adopted during a public meeting for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) organised by All Manipur Relief Camps Internally Displaced Persons in Imphal.
IDPs from various parts of the state, including Churachandpur, Moreh, Napat, Sugnu, and Torbung, actively participated in the meeting.
Key demands raised during the meeting include measures for resettlement at their homes, financial assistance for repairing and rebuilding houses, onetime compensation, and loans to restart livelihoods.
Additionally, they called for the deployment of state forces in adequate number in vulnerable areas, 24/7 CCTV surveillance, and a comprehensive rehabilitation plan addressing various aspects such as livelihood, education, and skill support.
Furthermore, they demanded exclusive colonies for IDPs until their full rehabilitation and resettlement.
The IDPs also appealed for support from Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Meira Paibi, clubs, and student bodies to mount pressure on the government.
They emphasised the importance of announcing the exact number of displaced voters from each constituency and resolved not to support any political party or candidate which/who does not support their demands.
