Vitrectomy Machine, OCT Angioplex and Fundus Camera inaugurated at RIMS

Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Director, Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma on Thursday inaugurated a new Vitrectomy Machine, OCT Angioplex and Fundus Camera (FFA AND ICG) at the Department of Ophthalmology, RIMS, Imphal.
The inaugural function was attended by Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal; Prof Y Chingsuingamba Meitei, Head, Department of Ophthalmology, RIMS, Imphal; RK Mecolt Singh, Deputy Director (Admn), RIMS, Imphal; Sairem Sarat Singh, CAO/FA, RIMS, Imphal; HODs, faculty members, students and staff of RIMS, imphal, said a release issued by RIMS Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar stated that the Vitrectomy Machine will give maximum advantages in treatment of eye's retina and vitreous problems.
"Since RIMS has the facility, maximum surgery for eye patients can be done.
No fees will be charged from patients while taking the facility.
It will be done at free of cost.
Apart from this, it will also increase research activity for PG students, giving aided advantages for them", he added.
The Director also shared that RIMS has become the first Government hospital to install Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Angioplex in the whole North East region.
He asserted that OCT Angioplex is a non-invasive imaging technique based on OCT developed to visualize vascular networks in the human retina, choroid, skin and various animal models.
Further, Prof G Sunil Kumar mentioned that Fundus Camera (FFA AND ICG) is one of the best and latest technologies in treatment of the eye.
"It is important for diagnosing and treating various posterior segments and other ocular diseases", he concluded.
