COCOMI urges common strategy for state's survival

Imphal, June 29 2023: The Coordination Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI, has called for a unified strategy to protect Manipur's territorial integrity and fight against narco-terrorists.

In a press conference held at its office on Thursday, COCOMI coordinator Jeet endra Ningomba expressed concern over the ongoing situation in the state, stating that there is no sign of improvement.

Despite CO-COMI s relentless efforts to maintain peace, the society has been unable to regain stability during the nearly two-month crisis.

Jeetendra highlighted that the peaceful atmosphere and social fabric of the state have been disrupted in recent years due to the influx of illegal immigrants with their community-centric agenda.

This has led to a major shift in the demography of the state, encroachment and destruction of reserved and protected forest ar eas, and the instigation pf communal tensions among citizens.

These illegal immigrants have exerted their influence over the local population, overpowered them and have sown seeds of enmity between different communities.

COCOMI believes that the prevailing crisis is a result of external aggression.

Manipur is currently experiencing the impact of this aggression, and if left unchecked,Tt will eventually affect the entire country.

In response, the people of Manipur are united in their fight against narco-terror-ism and are calling for a common strategy to protect the state from this threat and external aggression.

People are demanding stern action against Kuki militants, but unfortunately, the Government of India has turned a blind eye to these demands, which COCOMI finds deeply unfortunate.

Jeetendra also criticised the emerging political blame game within the state during such a crucial situation.

He emphasised that now is not the time for division but to focus on protecting Manipur's territory and administration.

The current situation has pushed people to the edge, and there is a risk of resorting to anarchism, which would not be beneficial for the state.

Individual and localised decisions have the potential to derail the entire move ment, he said and urged for adopting a common strategy to move forward in the fight for Manipur's territory and against narco-terrorism.
