Imphal, June 29 2023:
Former Congress MLA RK Imo, who switched side to BJP, claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's visit to the state has created more unrest and politicised the present crisis.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle, RK Imo contended that the visit of Rahul Gandhi has divided the people of the state into two halves with one group welcoming his visit and the other boycotting.
The state government had allowed him to travel to Churachandpur by air but not by road as it could lead to public unrest.
Congress workers wanted him to travel by road and the state government wanted him to travel by air.
Is the mode of travel so important when everyone in the state knows it's not safe to travel by road at this point of time, especially when he has been boycotted by a section of the society, the Sagolband MLA enquired.
Even the union home minister Amit Shah visited these places by chopper and met all representatives.
Rather than solving issues, this visit has created more problems.
"We don't want to politicise any issue related to the incidents, but the visit itself has politicised everything and Congress has succeeded in dividing the state even more," RK Imo added.
