Imphal, June 29 2023:
The Loumi Shinmi Apunba Lup (LOUSAL) has urged the Government to deploy adequate security forces at all peripheral and foothill areas so that paddy cultivation can be done without any disturbance.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, LOUSAL general secretary Laishram Kiranjit said that they strongly condemned the firing by Kuki militants at farmers yesterday at Chingei Loukon and Heirangoi Loukon of Phubala, Langban Loukon and Khupchin Houbi Loukon of Thinungei.
Despite repeated attacks by Kuki terrorists who came from outside the State, farmers would still go to fields and cultivate paddy, he said.
He urged both the Central Government and the State Government to make necessary security arrangements so that farmers can carry out paddy cultivation with a sense of security.
Similar to yesterday's incidents of opening fire at farmers by Kuki terrorists at multiple locations of Bishnupur, Kuki terrorists opened fire at farmers as they went to sow paddy seeds at Thamnapokpi, Sabungkhok and Sanasabi in Imphal East district a few days back, said LOUSAL office secretary Khumujam Ronex.
He said that the Kuki terrorists also carried away many cattle.
He urged the Union Government as well as the State Government to check the foreign Kuki terrorists from committing different acts of war upon Meitei farmers.
