Imphal, June 29 2023:
The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has warned that whole country will suffer immensely if narco-terrorism is allowed to take roots on the soil of Manipur.
Speaking to media persons today, COCOMI convenor Jitendra Ningomba noted that the prevailing situation is growing more and more critical.
He said that the COCOMI has been working hard to bring peace and normalcy in the State all these days.
Manipur existed as a peaceful State with all the communities living together in harmony.
But the influx of illegal immigrants since some years back, the resultant demographic changes, articulation of a separate agenda of their (illegal immigrants) own created a very volatile situation.
Now the illegal immigrants have completely dominated some hill tribes, Jitendra said.

A deeper analysis of the crisis revealed that it is indeed external aggression.
Today, Manipur is facing the brunt of external aggression and it would become a threat to the National security sooner rather than later, he said.
In addition to external aggression, Manipur is also facing the onslaught of narco-terrorism, he said.
The COCOMI convenor then called upon all the people to struggle collectively until narco-terrorism is rooted out from the soil of Manipur.
All the regions of India will become targets and victims of narco-terrorism in case narco-terrorism is allowed to take its roots on the soil of Manipur, he warned.
It is a matter of grave concern that the Government of India has been acting totally indifferent to the repeated and unanimous calls of the people of Manipur to take up some concrete actions against the Kuki militants under SoO and illegal immigrants, he decried.
The people were hopeful of something positive when Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that he would handle the situation in the hill districts even though they were not happy with the arrangement but all the people's hopes have been belied as testified by the fresh offensive launched by Kuki militants at Phubala yesterday and Phayeng areas today, he said.
Pointing out that the situation is becoming more and more critical, the COCOMI convenor called upon all political parties to set aside their differences, come together and work collectively to save Manipur.
Observing that different sections of people have been acting separately without any coordination, Jitendra said that there is an urgent need to take a collective decision and march in one direction unitedly.
COCOMI media coordinator Somorendro Thokchom said that they were deeply hurt when Assam Rifles assaulted many Meira Paibi activists mercilessly for their efforts to stop the paramilitary force from providing logistic support to one party of the ongoing conflict.
Had not the Meira Paibis come forward, Meiteis would have suffered much higher casualties on account of the logistic support given by Assam Rifles to the other party, Somorendro said.
He then sought immediate attention of the Government of India toward the ill-treatment meted to Meira Paibis by security forces.
Withdrawal of Assam Rifles troops who have no qualms in physically assaulting women from Manipur is the common desire of all the people of Manipur as well as COCOMI, he said.
COCOMI co-convenor Longjam Ratankumar said that the aggressors who are attacking Meitei at present are illegal immigrants.
