Governor stresses on expediting peace, relief measures

Chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi and security advisor Kuldiep Singh met Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Tuesday and apprised the latter of the latest law and order situation in the state arising out of the ethnic clash that broke out on May 3 .
The Governor discussed the issue with them to explore �ways and means to bring a peaceful situation through an amicable dialogue involving all stakeholders concerned.
She advised them to convene weekly meeting of Monitoring Committee to get feedback of action taken and problems faced; expedite arrangement for agricultural activities by providing adequate security; to approach the Medical Council of India to accommodate the displaced medical students as per availability of seats in other medical colleges; supply of adequate medicines in all the relief camps to keep the inmates physically and mentally fit coupled with equipment of entertainment.
She also advised the officers to ensure early release of the remaining assistance of Rs 1000 per displaced persons; supply of adequate daily essential commodities and, if required, traders be directed to sell the items at the respective relief camps; arrange re settlement of displaced people and expedite construction of temporary houses as well as release of compensation for the victims; to hold the election to Autonomous District Council; to use drone for monitoring the situation; to review the order of "No work, No Pay" .
The Governor further assured to organise meeting with all political parties, CSOs, security forces in Raj Bhavan in future to bring peace and normalcy.
Meanwhile, representatives of Uripok Apunba Lup met the Governor on Tuesday and discussed the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
The Lup submitted a memorandum to her and discussed various issues to restore peace and tranquillity in the state through an amicable dialogue so that all the displaced people, who are taking shelter in different relief camps of both hill and valley, can re-settle at their respective places.
The Governor assured them that she will certainly look into the matter and has also appealed to all stakeholders concerned to explore all possible ways to end the violence.
