Brahmapur Holi Dal urges for normalcy

The Brahmapur Holi Dal has prayed for stoppage of violence and restoration of peace and normalcy in the face of prevailing chaotic situation in the State following the outbreak of communal clash on May 3 .
The cultural organisation based at Brahmapur Aribam Leikai in Imphal East, in a statement took note of the ethnic groups living together in harmony with mutual respect and cooperation for centuries.
Of late, the peaceful co-existence of the communities inhabiting the State has been disturbed and peace loving people are forcibly displaced along with violent activities of killing, destruction of properties, desecration of religious structures of Gods, deities and heritage sites, etc, the organisation noted.
The organisation established in 1945 and registered in 1986 aims at preserving, promoting and propagating the cultural, traditional, spiritual, religious and ethnological values and has firm belief in non-violence, universal peace, peaceful co-existence and mutual prosperities, it said.
It also noted that indigenous inhabitants of the State are peace lovers, hard workers, believers of many thoughts, beliefs and worships- specific and respective to their ethnic groups, it noted while appealing all to stop violent activities in the State at the earliest.
The organisation also appealed to stop dissemination of hate propagandas and campaigns which can drive wedges among ethnic groups and prayed to devise a peaceful alternative to solve the issues.
It further prayed to ensure no disturbance to the cultural, traditional, ethnical, historical and religious sites.
It also drew attention of the competent authorities and any ethnic group/community to insert a provision of protection, preservation and propagation of these sites while entering any pact, agreement, understanding etc to avoid cultural/religious misunderstanding and ambiguity.
The Brahmapur Holi Dal also reiterated its prayer for a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous Manipur.
