Mass inter-faith rally taken out

A mass rally was taken out by followers of different religions on Tuesday, demanding end to the violence in the state and bringing about amicable solution to the conflict situation.
Organised by Interfaith Forum for Peace & Harmony (IFPH), Manipur, the rally was taken out from the southern gate of BOAT in Palace Gate and passed through City Convention and Andro Parking before culminating at the campus of Bal Vidya Mandir, Palace Gate.
Altogether 2000 followers of different faiths including Hindu, Christian, Islam, Jainism, Buddhism, Sanamahism and TRC under 20 different bodies participated in the rally.
Speaking with regard to the rally, IFPH convenor Deben Ba-chaspatimayum informed that leaders of different religions decided to register protest against the cycle of violence in the state which has been raging for over two months.
The rally on Tuesday was carried out to ring out the message about importance of concerted efforts in curbing the violence.
He then said that this conflict between fellow humans is only suppressing the innocent civilians.
Thus, there is a need to raise our voices rather than spectate in silence, he stated and added that the Forum will continue to work towards restoring peace Christian Organisation (AMCO) president Th Sokho George, it is extremely disheartening to witness such violence in the state, where different communities have been residing together in harmony for ages.
Thus, he urged for all concerned to settle their differences in a peaceful manner, while also appealing to the government to take up necessary steps to restore peace in the state.
