Vehicular movement along NH-2 under strict security

Imphal, July 11 2023:
Combined team of state police and central forces continued to conduct search operations in both the hill and valley districts and destroyed two bunkers on Tuesday.
According to Police Control Room, although the situation remain tense in some places with sporadic incidents of firing and congregation of unruly mob, most districts are normal.
During search operations conducted in the last 24 hours, two bunkers were destroyed and a total of six arms recovered.
Intermittent firings by armed miscreants were reported in few areas in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
However, the miscreants were repelled after police and central forces launched operations in the areas, it said.
About 127 nakas/check-points have been installed in different areas of both the hill and valley districts, while 298 people were detained on Tuesday for violation of restrictions imposed.
Meanwhile, agricultural activities commenced in the vulnerable fringe areas of Chanung, Moirangpurel and Tumukhong in Imphal East district with security coverage provided by Manipur Police and central forces.
The control room further conveyed that movement of essential items has been ensured along NH-37 and NH-2, with strict security measures taken up in all vulnerable locations in addition to providing security convoy in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of vehicles.
350 loaded vehicles left Ji-ribam and 148 loaded vehicles left Noney for Imphal along NH-37, whereas 21 vehicles reached Sekmai from Dimapur while 34 vehicles have left Sekmai for Dimapur along NH-2 .
The Control Room then reiterated its appeal to the public to extend all possible help in bringing normalcy in the state, to clarify any rumour by dialling rumour free number - 9233522822, and to return and deposit arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or security forces immediately.
