Interfaith rally prays for peace

With a call to stop violence and initiate dialogue, an interfaith rally was taken out at Palace Compound today.
The peace rally organised by Interfaith Forum for Peace and Harmony (IFPH), Manipur began from Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT) and culminated at Bal Vidya Mandir.
A large number of people belonging to different religions and spiritual communities such as All Manipur Buddhists Association, All Manipur Christian Organisation, Art of Living Manipur, Bhakti Seva Lup/ Ekta Parishad, Brahmakumari Manipur, Catholic Diocese, Imphal, Divine Life Society, Manipur, ISKCON, Manipur Jain Samaj, Manipur, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Manipur, Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board, Manipur Baptist Convention, Meitei Christian Churches Council Manipur, Naga Christian Forum, Manipur, Rongmei Naga Baptist Association etc participated in the rally.
Speaking to media persons, IFPH, Manipur convenor Bachaspatimayum Deben said that the violence in Manipur has caused extreme human suffering on all sides.
He appealed to all concerned to shun violence and initiate dialogues so that people could live without any fear again.
Saying that representatives of different faiths and spiritual communities stand together to express their pain and anguish on the destructive violence which has taken a toll on everyone, Deben continued that the violence is destroying humanity and so it must end in the larger interest of the future generation.
Deben also appealed to those who are engaged in armed confrontations to cease all retaliatory acts of violence.
It is high time to create a safe and secure environment for all to work together in finding peace, he said and prayed for all the victims of the violence.
