Imphal, July 11 2023:
Approximately 500 women of Achanbigei and Heingang took to the streets of Heingang Thongkhong in Imphal East to stage a peaceful protest demanding early restoration of peace and the abrogation of the SoO agreement.
The protest took place on Monday night amidst the night curfew.
Notably, the peaceful nature of the protest resulted in no reported confrontations between the protestors and security personnel.
The participants raised slogans such as "We want peace," "Long live Manipur," and "Abrogate SoO agreement," expressing their desire for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing unrest.

Furthermore, the protestors called for the return of the bodies of two individuals who were allegedly kidnapped and subsequently murdered by Kuki militants on July 4 .
The victims had gone to Leikinthabi village under the jurisdiction of Sekmai Police station to assist the local volunteers in countering an attack by suspected Kuki militants.
Unfortunately, they went missing, and a video of their murder at the hands of the militants surfaced on social media the following day, despite an internet ban in place.
Speaking to the media, Subasini, a member of Heingang Thongkhong Meira Paibi, stated that the prolonged unrest had forced indigenous people to seek refuge in their own homeland.
She emphasised that the peace-loving community of Manipur had been greatly affected by the unrest, appealing to the Government for the swift restoration of peace.
Subasini added that any delay in restoring peace would only endanger the lives of the public, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
The protest highlighted the deep concern among the community regarding the prevailing unrest and the need for immediate action to establish peace and ensure the safety and well-being of the people of Manipur.
