Volley tourney kicks off in Noney

With a message to bring unity, transformation and to stop the practice of killings or violence among every community, a three-day Volleyball Knockout Tournament on the theme "Love, Peace and Unity" kicked off on Tuesday at Namkaoluang Part-II (Taolingpung) under Khoupum Subdivision in Noney district, Manipur.
The mega volley event was organised by Rongmei Luhphuam Khoupum Luangrian (RLPKL).
As many as 36 teams from 26 different villages from will be participating during the knockout tournament which will be concluded on February 10.The inaugural match was played between Duithan jang RLP and Lubanglong RLP where Duithanjang RLP beat Lubanglong RLP to qualify for the next match.
Former Tamenglong ADC member Meirijin R Naga in his speech as chief guest stated that today women are excelling in many areas of life beyond the domestic work from kitchen unlike in the olden days; however, our society still need to provide wider platforms to them.
He also asserted that the practice of downgrading women and restricting them from many social activities should not be encouraged anymore in modern society as women play a significant role in promoting peace, unity and love among everyone.
