Imphal, February 08 2022:
The proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has reportedly conducted its 9th general assembly from December 21 to 28, 2021 .
According to a UNLF statement issued by its deputy secretary of publicity M Sak-hen, the general assembly was first held in the year 1984 and since then, it is being held regularly after every four years.
The 9th general assembly moderated by Advisory Committee president approved the report of the 8th Central Committee after thorough discussion as also of the audit report.
Discussion during the 9th general assembly mainly dwelt on impact of erroneous incidents in the past to the outfit s revolutionary journey.
After threadbare discussion on understanding party line by bringing out ideas and universal truth and to promote the revolutionary struggle, the general assembly resolved that party cadres should take errors/loopholes detected while executing activities of the party seriously and highlight the same to liked minded organisations for rectification and if unable to rectify the errors, the matter should be immediately brought to the notice of top level and start rectification process with all the cadres shouldering collective responsibility.
According to the statement, the relation between Manipur and India is the national contradiction emerging out of India's forcible occupation of Manipur in the year 1949 and the outfit has always considered this conflict as the most important one.
Colour of the present colonial identity being witnessed by people in Manipur is the result of this conflict and UNLF considers that the same is happening to other communities in WESEA region.
Accordingly, the 9th general assembly reaffirmed that the only way to resolve this national contradiction and set the people free from the colonial yoke is successful launch of national people's democratic revolution and free the people from India's suppressive rule.
Apart from giving approval to slight change in the logo of the letterhead of the outfit, the 9th general assembly also unanimously appointed a 13 -member central committee for the tenure 2022-2025 with NC Koireng as chairman.
