ECI to discuss AMCO's stand

Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra has said that the proposal for rescheduling the polling date of the first phase will be discussed by the Election Commission.
Responding to a query regarding the Election Commission's stand on the proposal to reschedule the polling date at Hotel Classic Grande today, the CEC said the All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) representatives have explained their positions on fixing the poll date on February 27 (Sunday) .
He said that the matter will be discussed after he goes back to Delhi.
Meanwhile, Reverend L Simon Rongmai, convener of Christian Action Committee, a committee under the aegis of AMCO informed that they met the representatives of ECI this morning at around 10 and aired their grievances.
The Christian Action Committee (CAC) had yesterday staged a silent protest at MBC Church Imphal and near the Imphal International Airport Gate, demanding the ECI to reschedule the first phase of the polling.
The State will go to polls on February 27 and March 3 .
