Imphal, February 08 2022:
All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA), in a request letter on Monday, has urged the commissioner of Higher & Technical Education to direct AG, Manipur for setting 'effective date' for payment of SCA & TA to the teachers of government colleges and retirement benefits under ROP orders (dated July 3, 2021) as approved by the state cabinet on December 23, 2021 .
AMCTA also suggested that the administrative department of Higher & Technical Education seek Special permission from the Election Commission of India for issuing orders in accordance with the cabinet decision and send a clarification regarding the matter to AG by issuing orders in the interest of the college teachers.
The matter is pending with the administrative department (HE) after obtaining the concurrence from the state finance department due to sudden imposition of model code of conduct for election, AMCTA pointed out, while adding, "In this situation, AMCTA feels that the matter is not related to any political issue/party in part/partially as the matter had already been decided by the government since long back" .
In its letter, the association also mentioned that the retired teachers are facing problems in submitting their applications for commutation of pension and other claims related to pension which are to be submitted within one year from date of retirement - on or before February 28, 2022 since the majority of teachers superannuated during the year had retired on February 28, 2021 .
"In this connection, the government has to issue orders related to the retired teachers within the month of February, 2022 so that the retired teachers may get benefits under ROP orders", it added.
