'Saina Nehwal of Kpi' Kim Kim Khongsai shines in MHDBC 2022

A young shuttier from Kangpokpi district, Kim Kim Khongsai, who is dubbed 'Saina Nehwal' of Kangpokpi shone brightly in the recently concluded Manipur Hill Districts Badminton Champion ship 2022 held at Senapati.
Kim Kim added more feathers to her cap by clinching three gold medals in different categories in the championship.
She was part of the 40 players of the Kangpokpi District Badminton Association in the championship.
The 11-year-old shuttier bagged her golden treble in open women's singles, U-15 girls' singles and U-15 girls' doubles events.
Interestingly, the young girl's parents Jangkholim Khongsai and Hoichong Khongsai are also renowned shuttiers who are also part of the Kangpokpi contingent in the Senapati competition.
Kim Kim's mother Hoichong Khongsai also won two gold medals after winning 40+ women's singles and 40+ women's doubles events in the Manipur Hill Districts Badminton Championship 2022 while her father Jangkholim Khongsai bagged silver medal in 55+ men's doubles event.
A student of St Anthony's School, Imphal, Kim Kim Khongsai has won a number of medals at a very young age in badminton at the state and district level, and also in a competition in Guwahati.
She won a gold medal in U-ll girls' singles event in the Hill Districts Badminton Association Manipur Championship 2019 before winning gold medals in both U-ll and U-13 categories in 2021 and a silver medal in U-15 girls' singles in Ukhrul district.
Kim Kim also claimed gold medals in U-15 and U-19 categories and U-15 doubles in Chandel district the same year.
The young Saina Nehwal of Kangpokpi' then participated in the Manipur Badminton Association's State Badminton Championship 2021 and won gold medal in U-ll girls' singles and silver medal in U-13 doubles while in 2022 in the same championship, she got a similar achievement in the same categories.
Before winning her three gold medals in the recently concluded Manipur Hill Districts Badminton Champi onship at Senapati, Kim Kim got outside exposure by participating in the PNB Metlife Guwahati Open Championship 2022 where she took bronze medal in U-13 girls' singles.
