Kakching, November 02 2022:
Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO), Kakching has appealed to the Administrator and Executive Officer of Kakching Municipal Council to seek the opinion of public leaders particularly ex-MLA, ex-Councillors and CSOs in relation to the issuance of No-objection for construction of ISKCON Temple at Angaan Ching, Kakching.
In a letter addressed to the Administrator of Kakching Municipal Council, JNGVO informed that a proposal for the construction of District Science Centre & Planetarium and District Library at Angaan Ching has been there since 2020 .
Pointing out that construction of such centres would enhance the scientific temper and reading habits of the younger generation, JNGVO claimed that in sharp contradiction to it, a proposal for construction of an ISKCON Temple at Angaan Ching has been
cropping up.
"In this secular set up, if proposals for construction of temples of other religious groups at such public sites come, can we allocate and accommodate all ?", it added.
JNGVO continued that there is an acute shortage of public land in and around Kakching for construction of various public institutes/departments.
"Any priority to ISKCON Temple is strongly opposed and public anger must not be inflamed", it concluded.
