STDCM storms minister Biswajit's quarters

Continuing its movement of storming residence of elected people's representatives to exert pressure on the state government for forwarding recommendation to the Union government to include Meetei/Meitei in the ST list, Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee Manipur (STDCM) on Wednesday stormed the quarters of power minister Thongam Biswajit located at Sanjenthong, here.
However, representatives of STDCM failed to meet the minister as he was not there but later sent invitation for a meeting at his quarters on Thursday.
Representatives of several organisations included in the coordinating body of STDCM namely KKL, SKL, WAMA, KIMACS, AMOSGO, UKAL, WASEDEV, AIMS, DESAM and TIPS landed at the quarters of minister Biswajit around 1pm.Upon reaching the quarters, a staff informed that minister Biswajit waited for them but had to leave due to an important meeting with the chief minister.
The staff conveyed that the minister too wanted to share some of his opinions with the committee and invited the committee for a meeting.
Speaking in this regard, STDCM general secretary K Bhogendrajit pointed out that the movement to storm residences/ quarters of elected representatives has been initiated for an update on their personal stand on the movement and to submit memorandum regarding the demand for inclusion of Meetei/ Meitei in the ST list.
Stating that many people of Manipur are extending support to the movement, he expressed hope that minister Biswajit will also back their demand.
He also affirmed that the Committee will continue to meet cabinet ministers and will tiy to seek support of BJP MLAs by approaching them.
They will even meet the chief minister if it is needed, Bhogendrajit added.
