Kakching, November 02 2022:
Chief of Thorcham village RL Moel has drawn attention of the government towards the ongoing PMGSY project for the road leading to the village located under Chakpikarong sub-division of Chandel district while appealing for ensuring quality control and early completion of the project.
According to the village chief, the 17 km long PMGSY project is divided into two parts.
The first part has been completed but the work quality is of sub-standard and as a result, there are already several potholes along the completed road.
The second part is for an 8-km section leading to Thorcham village.
Earlier, the deadline for the project was set for February 2021 but the department officials told them that the deadline had been extended to March 2023 due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Despite the extend ed deadline, the sluggish progress of the work will make it impossible to complete the work before the new deadline, he said and appealed to the contractor, sub-contractors and department officials concerned to complete the road project during the dry season while maintaining standard quality as per project specification.
He also drew attention of the authority to look into the matter.
The village chief also warned of launching different forms of protest if the authority fails to expedite the project.
