Thoubal, November 02 2022:
As conducted annually, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Thoubal on Wednesday launched Rabi Campaign-2022 and distributed seeds and agricultural inputs for use in plantation of Rabi crops to farmers of Thoubal district.
The programme was attended by Wabagai MLA Dr Usham Deven as chief guest, Agriculture director N Gojendro Singh as president and Thoubal deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subash as guest of honour.
Speaking at the function, DC Subash pointed out that the central government is aiming to double the income of farmers of the country but as most of the agricultural lands in the state remain barren after harvest of paddy crops, the income of the farmers could not be increased.
He, however, lauded the initiative taken up by KVK for purposeful utilisation of farmlands to prevent the same from being left unattended for months.
The DC also called upon the farmers to strive for increasing their income as well.
Noting that financial problem is the biggest issue faced by the farmers as most of them are poor, he continued that despite farmers showing enthusiasm to double their income and having adequate inputs, they continue to endure certain inconveniences when it comes to financial investment.
If farmers of the district face such situation, then they can avail loans provided by different banks in the district, Subash suggested, while maintaining that he is open for discussion if there is any problem in availing the loans.
As a part of the campaign, 300 kg of mustard seeds to be planted in 200 hectares of agricultural area in Wabagai under a special KVK programme, Kesari Masoor Dal seeds, cabbage seeds and other crops along with sprayer and water pump sets were distributed to farmers of the district.
