Drivers' associations extend aid to injured truck driver

Manipur Drivers Association (MDA) extended monetary aid to a truck driver who sustained injuries during a road mishap.
The driver, Nepuni Mao (50 yrs) who is from Shajouba village in Senapati district was undergoing treatment at Shija Hospitals for his injuries.
It may be noted that the sand laden truck which he was driving met with the unfortunate incident while coming to Imphal from Dimapur after it fell into a gorge near Maram Bazar in Senapati district along the National Highway-2 around 3.30 am on November 1 .
A team of MDA led by its president, Saikhom Babudhon and advisor, Samom Ganga Meitei visited him at Shija Hospitals today and handed over the monetary aid to Nepuni.
He was discharged from the hospital today since his condition has improved.

Later, general secretary MDA, Sanjay Kshetrimayum while speaking to media persons assured that the Association will extend all possible support to the drivers and continuously work for welfare of drivers in the State.
He also lauded the timely intervention of members of Senapati District Truck Drivers Union, Senapati District Truck Owners' Association and All Manipur Gorkha Drivers and Owners' Association who initiated the rescue drive at the accident site by using an excavator, crane and ambulance.
He further appealed to all to contact MDA and its member associations of Awang Sekmai and Senapati for help in case of road mishaps and similar incidents.
Meanwhile, the All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' and Motor Workers' Union also extended monetary aid to the injured driver and handyman of the accident yesterday.
