5th Junior Girls Boxing Nationals : Haryana emerge overall team champions

Haryana were crowned champions of the 5th Junior Girls National Boxing Championship hosted by Manipur Amateur Boxing Association under the aegis of Boxing Federation of India with a total of 4 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze medals.
Rajasthan with a total of 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals finished runners up as hosts Manipur finished lowly in the 8th position with just 2 medals, one gold and one bronze.
Manipur's Supriya Thokchom was however adjudged best boxer of the championship while Neha Sharma of Rajasthan and Tanushree Ambokar of Maharashtra were declared most promising and most challenging boxers respectively.

The valedictory programme of the championship which began on October 28 with the participation of 241 boxers from across the State was graced by Leishiyo Keishing, MLA Kamjong AC; Hemanta Kumar Kalita, general secretary of Boxing Federation of India; P Doungel, DGP; T Phulen Meitei, Director Youth Affairs and Sports; Narender Kumar Nirwan, vice president, Boxing Federation of India; Dronacharya Awardee L Ibomcha Singh, Deputy Director SAI-STC Imphal; Dr Th Dhabali, chairman Babina Group of Companies; N Ibochou, managing director, BIPL, Imphal Branch as dignitaries.
Final bouts
Laxmi Singh of Haryana bagged the -46 kg category gold beating Tanushree Ambokar of Haryana 5-0 in the final bout before her compatriot Pari beat Palak Zambare of Maharashtra 4-1 in the -48 kg category title clash.
Madhya Pradesh's Tanishka Sirvi fetched the -50 kg title beating Uttar Pradesh's Chanchal Choudhary 4-1 today as Nisha of Rajasthan beat Haryana's Yakshikka 4-1 and Haryana's Vidhi beat Divyanshi of Rajasthan 5-0 for the -52 kg and -57 kg category titles.
Uttarakhand's Nikita Chand bagged the -60 kg category gold beating Anajali Singh of Madhya Pradesh 5-0 today as Shrushti Sathe of Maharashtra beat Arju of Haryana in the -63 kg final bout.
Tamil Nadu's SM Durga Sri fetched -66 kg category title beating Tamanna of Haryana 3-1 before Punjab's Krisha Verma beat Sanjana of Haryana 5-0 for the -70 kg category title, Rudrika of Haryana beat Neha Sharma of Rajasthan 5-0 for the -75 kg category title, Khushi Pooniya of Rajasthang beat Kritika Wasan of Delhi 4-1 for the -80 kg category title, Supriya Thokchom of Manipur beat UPA's Babita Singh 5-0 for the -54 kg category gold and Nihjhara Bana of Rajasthan beat Harshika Tushir of Haryana 5-0 for the 80+ kg category gold.
