Report on anomalies in selection of cops ; Candidate reacts, gives his side of the story

Reacting to the news report published under the heading "Anomalies detected..., Govt overrides Police Hqs plea" on January 22, one of the candidates in question namely Mongjam Amarjit has clarified that he was listed at Sl No 2 of the selection notification of DGP Manipur dated 6/8/2013 .
Amarjit's chest no is 71 BPR, not 76 and his date of birth as recorded in the HSLC exam is 1/11/1978 .
According to a letter of clarification issued by M Amarjit, certificate was verified by DGP Manipur with the Board (which conducted the HSLC Exam) in December 2012 and it was found that his certificate was genuine and his date of birth correct.
As such, there was no room for tampering or manipulation of the date of birth.
Amarjit passed his HSLC Exam 2004 in 4th position and the Higher Secondary Certificate Exam 1996 from the Maharashtra State Board of Sec & Hr Sec Edn in high first class.
He secured 1st Class, 1st Honours (Physics) with distinction in BSc (Hons) Exam 2000 conducted by Manipur University and passed MSc Exam 2002 in high 1st class from Kurukshetra University, Haryana.
Saying that he had a very good and consistent academic career, Amarjit maintained that he was selected by the recruitment board as SI at serial number 2 purely out of merit and good performance.
The Editor replies : The report was filed on the basis of a report submitted by the ADGP, Director of MPTC, Pangei and Chairman DPC for SI/ASI (Male/Civil)/Jem/MR/IRB to the IGP (Admn) where it was clearly mentioned that the Date of Birth of the said candidate was tampered in the Board certificate.
The chest number as pointed out is 71 and not 76 as published earlier.
