Dy CM interacts with IPCS mentor

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and other important civil dignitaries interacted with Maj Gen (Retd) Dipankar Banerjee, Mentor and Director, Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPCS) New Delhi at Loktak Brigade headquarters.
Issues affecting the peace and harmony in the NE region and Manipur in particular were discussed.
The Dy CM spoke about the need to improve road/rail communication connecting the NE internally as well as with neighbouring countries.
He felt this would bring immense economic benefits to the people and act as a catalyst for overall development.
Gen Banerjee commented on the relevance of India's NE policy and significance of Asian Highway project.
He elucidated as to how the same would held the NE region in terms of border trade and economic integration with SEA countries.
Maj Gen (Retd) Dipankar is also a member of Board of Governors, Global Coalition Against Terrorism, Washington DC, USA.
He also written a number of books.
