State Govt's biggest concern is unemployment: Ibobi

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has said that the State Government is seriously concerned about solving the rising problem of unemployment among the youths.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the closing function of State Level Krishi Mela organized by Agricultural Technology Management Agency, Department of Agriculture at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound here today.
Ibobi further said that the State is facing shortage of about 2000 MT of food grains annually.
The State's own produce could not suffice the needs of the people and so it has to import the deficient food grains, vegetables, fruits, fish, eggs etc.
from other states.
The State has to spend huge amount of money to other states on importing food grains and other commodities resulting to a poor economy.
The people of the State need to enhance agricultural output and develop entrepreneurial skills to solve problem of unemployment.
He noted that promising entrepreneurs like Dr Dhabali of the Classic Hotel and others would surely help to boost the state's economy and generate employment among the youths.
Self-employment and income generation through agriculture and allied activities should also be promoted among the youths.
Moreover, the farmers of the State need to be encouraged on the use of modern agricultural tools and techniques in order to improve agricultural productivity and enhance the state's economy, the Chief Minister added.
Various agricultural awards were also presented to the farmers by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi.
The closing function was also attended by Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir, Director of Veterinary Dr Saidokhum Joute, Director of Sericulture Ginjamang Simte and Director of Horticulture AS Ningmi.
