'Medical negligence leads to child's disability'

Imphal, January 23 2014 :
The family members of a nine-year-old girl have alleged that the negligence and apathy of the doctors and management of Raj Polyclinic have made the girl disabled.
The victim girl has been identified as one Sushmita Rai, d/o Sarat Rai of Kanglatongbi Bazar.
According to the family members, Sushmita was admitted to Raj Polyclinic on January 8, 2013 last year after she got injured on her head after falling down from a truck.
Dr Motilal conducted a surgery on her head.
However, her body temperature went down and she was kept under observation inside the incubator to warm her up.
The hospital authorities did not disclose the matter to the family members.
They informed the family members only after the girl got severely burned due to alleged negligence of the attending doctors and nurses.
The hospital management did not render any assistance to the victim.
Some of her toes had to be severed due to the burn injuries.
The girl is now suffering extremely but the management of Raj Polyclinic still refuses to offer assistance to the victim despite legal intervention, the family members rued.
