Imphal, November 11 2022:
While conveying that no Imphal East villages should be incorporated to Kangpokpi district or Sadar Hills region under any circumstances, members of the Uyumpok Development Committee (UDC) staged a sit in protest at Uyompok Community Hall today.
During the demonstration, the protesters held placards which urged the Government to prevent movement of cadres of the SoO outfits, formulate rules of SoO groups and make sure none of the villages in Imphal East are incorporated in the Sadar Hills region.
On the sideline of the protest demonstration, UDC secretary Oinam Chakitombi Meetei appealed to the State Government to establish a boundary commission to resolve the boundary issues between Imphal East and Sadar Hills region/Kang-pokpi district.
Saying that villages in Imphal East passed down by their ancestors should never be made a part of the Sadar Hills region/Kangpokpi , he said that a certain map of Sadar Hills region emerging in the State touches considerable portions of valley areas.
Asking if the cadres of SoO have been given permission to move freely, Chakitombi urged the Government to look into the matter at the earliest.
He further appealed to the State Government to establish a boundary commission and resolve the issue at the earliest.
Different forms of agitation will be launched if the demands are not entertained, he warned.
