Court orders convict in drag case to surrender

Imphal, November 11 2022:
Special Judge ND&PS Manipur on Friday convicted a man, who was arrested by Sekmai police from Sekmai Bazar with drugs in 2013, and further ordered the convict to surrender himself before the Court by November 23 .
During the hearing of the case in the court of Special Judge ND&PS Manipur, Judge Kh Ajit Singh, the prosecution submitted that on August 5, 2013, a team of Sekmai PS was conducting checking and frisking operation around 8.45 pm, when the team approached a parked Tata Truck (AS 01 DC 2391) for verification.
The driver of the truck, identified as Md Shafiqur Rahman (31) s/o (L) Md Amu of Lilong Taireng Makhong was also questioned at the same time.
During the checking, 4 plastic packets each containing 4050 SP capsules (16200) were recovered and a case registered against Shafiqur under ND&PS Act.
After listening to the submission, the court declared Shafiqur Rahman guilty of transporting the 16200 SP capsules against the law and ordered him to surrender to the court on November 23 .
It further cancelled the bail granted to him previously .
