Bishnupur, Senapati Day celebrated at MANITEX-2022

Bishnupur and Senapati Day was celebrated on the seventh day of the ongoing Manipur International Textile Expo (MANITEX-2022) at Urban Haat, Nilakuthi on Friday.
Mayang Imphal MLA and MANIDCO chairman Kongkham Robindro, who was chief guest of the event, said that both the government and the directorate of handloom & textiles should make the weavers and artisans aware about the government-sponsored schemes/ projects and ensure the benefits reach them.
The present government led by CM Biren has been taking up various schemes/ projects for weavers/artisans but many of them are unaware of the schemes/projects and, thus, deprived of the benefits, he said and stressed the need for creating more awareness even through social media, if necessary.
He then advised officials of the department concerned to look into the matter seriously.
While pointing out that many state government offices have started using handloom and handicraft products, the MANIDCO chairman appealed to people to utilise local handloom and handicraft products as this will not only benefit local weavers/artisans but will also enhance the state's economy.
Thanga MLA and Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited chairman Tongbram Robindro, who also attended the event, said that MANITEX-2022 has been organised with the main objective to not only showcase indigenous handloom and handicraft items but also to develop a big market for indigenous products.
The event was also attended by Moirang MLA Th Shanti, Oinam MLA Irengbam Nalini, Kumbi MLA S Premchandra and Bishnupur DC L Bikram.
