One lakh WY tablets, brown sugar seized

More and more drug smuggling cases continue to crop up in Manipur as security personnel seized a large consignment of drugs viz; 1 lakh pieces of WY tablets from Lilong Arapti and 14 soap cases of brown sugar from Khudengthabi yesterday.
A team of Imphal East commando arrested a drug smuggler along with 1 lakh WY tablets worth around Rs 5 crore in the international market from Lilong Arapti Thongkhong area last night.
According to well placed sources, the Imphal East commando team carried out a random frisking drive at Lilong Arapti area in view of the upcoming Sangai Festival 2022 .
During the drive, a person who was coming in a red Maruti car with Manipur registration number was detained for verification and seized one lakh pieces of WY tablet, it said and added that the driver has been identified as one Phundrei-mayum Abdul Hadee alias Amu (35) s/o (L) Abdul Gafar Khan of Lilong Hao-reibi Makha Leikai, Thoubal.

Phundreimayum Abdul Hadee was arrested along with the WY tablets, one mobile phone and Rs 360 in the presence of a Magistrate.
He has been handed over to Irilbung police station.
Meanwhile, 20 Assam Rifles seized 14 soap cases of brown sugar weighing around 640 gram from Khudengthabi yesterday.
The drug was reportedly brought by one Thang-khopao Kipgen (39), s/o Hensat Kipgen of Churachandpur and he was coming from the Moreh side in an Eeco van.
As reported by our Moreh correspondent, the value of the seized drug would be around Rs 1.28 crore in the international market.
He has been handed over to Moreh police station.
