BJP MLA vows to support STDCM demand

As part of the ongoing agitation being launched by Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee Manipur (STDCM) to exert pressure on the state government for sending the requisite recommendation to the Centre for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list of the Indian Constitution, representatives of different organisations belonging to Coordinating Body of Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee stormed the residence of Uripok MLA Kh Raghumani on Friday.
Apart from apprising the BJP MLA about the ongoing agitation and movement being launched to include Meetei/Meitei in the ST list, STDCM representatives also submitted a memorandum to Raghumani.
After giving a patient hearing to the points raised by representatives of the Coordinating Body, Raghumani assured support to STDCM and said that he will never oppose the demand for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list of the Indian Constitution.
While opining that the demand is quite legitimate, the MLA assured physical as well as moral support.
About Friday's agitation led by STDCM working president Laishram Lokendro, STDCM general secretary K Bhogendrajit told media persons that the committee has been urging the state government to send the required recommendation to the Centre for granting recognition to the Meetei/Meitei as an ST community and accordingly decided to storm residences of elected leaders as per decision of the committee taken on October 13.He said that the committee will continue with the ongoing agitation and meet the cabinet ministers and MLAs.
