Thoubal, November 11 2022:
Kakching AC MLA, Mayanglambam Rameshwar has categorically asserted that when people lack an income stream, daily food and means of education for their children, infrastructural development will be ineffectual.
The MLA made the statement during the distribution of rabi vegetable seeds to 63 farmers of Kakching district under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) 2022-23 held at the Sub Division Agriculture Office Complex, Kakching today.
The programme was organised by the District Officer Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Thoubal and marked the first instalment of MIDH 2022-23 scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayanglambam Rameshwar stated that on top of infrastructural development, it is essential to ensure that every family has a source of income and has means to improve their economic condition.
It is necessary to carve out ways for families to earn a living, meet their daily needs for food and cover the expenses for their children's education, the MLA opined.
Instead of waiting for Government jobs, one can take advantage of the indigenous products of the land and earn a living by selling them elsewhere, he said.
Highlighting the reputation of Kakching as the region that produces the largest quantity of paddy in Manipur, he urged the public to provide their cooperation in improving the economy of the district and becoming a model for the rest of Manipur.
The MLA also assured that he would take up any relevant schemes or projects that would prove to be beneficial to the people.
Nongmaithem Nimai, former Minister & president of Senior Citizen Forum and Somorjit Salam, DC, Kakching also attended the event as presidium members.
