Doctors stage sit-in protest

A sit-in protest was staged by government doctors of Bishnupur district at District Hospital, Bishnupur complex on Friday against the disparity shown by the government towards the Health Department compared to other departments.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the sit-in organised under the aegis of All Manipur Health Services Doctors' Association, Bishnupur district malaria officer Dr Thounaojam Nabakeshwor Singh lamented that government doctors have been deprived of timely line promotion, time scale promotion and payment of Non-Practice Allowances.
The protest was organised to demand extension of service period of doctors up to 65 years, as in other states; reimplementation of transfer and posting policy of 2017; implementation of Manipur Health Services Rules 2020, creation of posts of Health Services director, Family Welfare Services director, Public Health director & Medical Education director and issuing allowance for doctors posted at risk prone areas, he added.
