Drug dealer convicted

One 41 year old Safiqur Rahaman who was arrested for unauthorized possession of 16,200 pieces of SP capsule on August 8, 2013 from Sekmai Bazaar under Section 21(c) of ND&PS Act has been convicted by the Special Court, ND&PS Manipur on Friday.
The Court also directed the convict to appear before the Court on November 23 .
The judgment order was announced after hearing the submission of Special PP Moirangthem Raichand and the defence counsel.
The case was on against the convict after he was arrested along with 16,200 pieces of SP capsules which were hidden in a secret chamber of a Tata truck from Sekmai Bazar by a team of Narcotic Cell, Imphal West on August 8, 2013 .
The IO of the case, on completion of the investigation, submitted a charge sheet against the convict for trial.
During the trial, nine prosecution witnesses were produced to prove the charge levelled against the convict.
The Court examined all the witnesses produced before the Court by the prosecution but the convict didn't produce any witness in his defence.
During the final hearing, Special PP M Raichand submitted that the seizure of SP capsules from the convict has been proven beyond reasonable doubt.
The Court, after hearing the submission of the Special PP and the defence counsel, observed that the convict took possession of the SP capsules without any authorisation and he (the convict) didn't explain how the SP capsules were found in his truck.
Hence, the Court convicted Safiquar Rahaman under section 21(c ) of ND&PS Act and cancelled the bail granted to him earlier.
