Imphal, November 11 2022:
All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) has strongly condemned the burning freshly cut paddy stack readied for threshing at the field of one Moirangthem Nabachandra of Khangabok Awang Leikai on November 7 .
In a release, AMPFA publicity secretary Areng Kom noted with regret that such irresponsible and depressing acts have risen dramatically in the past few years and called upon stakeholders concerned as well as individual farmers to maintain top vigil to prevent such devilish incidents.
While observing that such acts of ghastly arson need to be tackled unitedly by the public and the farmer community, Areng suggested that Thoubal police station immediately register a case and take swift action against people involved in the burning of the paddy stack.
Local clubs, meira paibi activists and locals should also help the police in identifying the culprit(s), he stressed.
Areng Kom further urged the government to look into rising arson cases and compensate the victims.
The Association will also extend all possible help it could in this regard, he assured.
