The Court of the Session Judge Imphal West has heard an application filed by Imphal West Police for extending judicial custody remand of Mark Thangmang Haokip, head of the outfit--Government of People's Democratic Republic of Kukiland.
After hearing the application filed by the Investigating Officer of the case, Rattana Ngasepam, Additional SP (IUCAW) Imphal West, the Court reserved order till October 31 .
While the application was filed on August 29, the Court heard the case on October 21 .
The application was filed to extend the judicial custody period from 90 days to 180 days.
It may be noted that Mark Thangmang Haokip (37) of Molnom village, Churachandpur is presently lodged in Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa since June 9 .
He was arrested on charges of being the president of the outfit called Government of People's Democratic Republic of Kukiland allegedly involved in a conspiracy for secession from India and to wage or attempting to wage or abetting in waging war against the Government of India.
During the hearing on October 21, the Court also directed Counsels of both parties to submit written statements in support of their submissions regarding the criminal misc application filed on or before October 28 before the Court.
