4.3 Kgs of opium seized

Imphal, October 23 2022:
With seizure of drugs becoming a daily affair in the State, around 4.344 Kgs of opium were seized by a combined team of Bishnupur Police and troops of 16 Assam Rifles from Torbung Bangla along Tiddim Road at around 3.15 pm today.
As a part of the Government's War on Drugs, the combined team carried out a frisking and checking exercise.
In the course of the exercise, one Pukhrambam Ibomcha Singh (48) s/o P Kamini Singh of Thingang-phai, Churachandpur district was arrested and four packets marked as Everyday (two packets) and Amul T-Special (two packets) were seized from his possession.
On preliminary verification, Ibomcha disclosed that the four packets were opium and he brought them for sale to prospective buyers.
Subsequently, Ibomcha was arrested and handed over to Phougakchao Ikhai police station along with the four packets of opium which weighed 4.344 Kgs in total.
