A one-day Sindam Sintha Kumhei (exhibition) was organised by Naorem Birahari College, Khundrakpam on the theme 'Exploring the Skills of Youth', at Khundrakpam ground on Sunday.
The exhibition was organised by the IQAC, Botany, Food Technology, Bio-tech, Fashion Designing, Home Science, Media and Environment departments of Naorem Birahari College in collaboration with Raj Nursery, Prabhabati Handloom, Reema Food & Processing Industry, Kwaklei, Khongunleima Orchid Private Limited and Meira Foods.
The exhibition, which was organised with the aim of encouraging emerging entrepreneurs, was sponsored jointly by Pambi Foods, Soibam Leikai; ISA Refrigeration Works, Lambulane; Naorem Birahari College Alumni Association, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Association and Home Science Department.
Speaking as chief guest of the event, CAU Imphal College of Food Safety dean Prof Ng Iboyaima expressed hope that the exhibition will help solve some of problems faced by youth of the state, especially college students who want to become entrepreneurs instead of looking for government jobs after graduation.
Such youth would not only help generate employment opportunities but also assist in the development of the state, he added.
During the exhibition, stalls were set up by different departments of the college and private firms.
The dignitaries also interacted with the students.
Presided over by College principal in-charge Dr Irom Kunjabati, the inaugural function of the exhibition was also attended by Ideal Girls' College, Department of Botany assistant professor Dr Th Tilkaraj as guest of honour.
