25 km long flyover in the pipeline

While highlighting the interrelation between infrastructure development and economy, Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam has said that the Government has identified 79 roads for expansion to efficiently move goods and services across the State.
The Minister further said that the Government will initiate a process to build a 25 km long flyover bridge in the State.
He made the statement after laying the foundation stone for construction of a RCC bridge over Merakhong canal which connects Nambol and Hiyangthang.
At the function, the Works Minister continued that the incumbent Government led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh is working to bring inclusive development in Manipur.
"Prosperity can only be brought through inclusive development," Govindas said.
Further stating that the Government will revamp the Highways which pass through Manipur, Govindas maintained that at least 79 roads have been identified for renovation in the first phase of the road development programme of the State while more will be repaired in the second phase.
"Construction of the much awaited Inner Ring Road will also begin under the funding of Asian Development Bank (ADB) shortly," he said and maintained that there is a need to develop the Outer Ring Road too as vehicle density keeps increasing.
He also said that the Government has been working consistently to improve the road infrastructure of the State on public�private partnership (PPP) model by taking funds from different banks and international bodies.
The aim of the BJP led Government is to bring economic growth to the State, the Works Minister said and appealed to the people to cooperate with the Government in taking up developmental works.
Former Union Minister Thounaojam Chaoba also attended the programme.
He urged the Government to complete the construction of the RCC bridge by March 2023 .
Education Minister Th Basantakumar and Chief Engineer of PWD Kh Temba also attended the programme.
