Importance of physical, mental and spiritual well-being underscored

District Mental Health Programme, District Health Society, National Health Mission Chandel organised a World Mental Health Day observance event at South East Manipur Higher Secondary School in Kapam Village of Chandel district today.
The day was observed on the theme "Make mental health and well being for all a global priority" .
The event witnessed the attendance of Mayanglambam Rajkumar, Deputy Commissioner Chandel; Dr Joyson Mathew Monsang, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Chandel and Sweety Roel Moyon, Assistant Professor, South East Manipur College (SEMCO) as the chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively.
Addressing the gathering, Dr M Sushilkumar, social worker and Psychiatric, District Mental Health Programme Chandel spoke at length about the theme and the significance and meaning of World Mental Health Day.
Chandel DC Mayanglambam Rajkumar highlighted the need for people to take care of their mental well-being and not solely their physical health.
He also urged people to ensure that they are mentally, physically and spiritually sound.
Further, he appealed to people to get check ups regularly instead of consulting the doctor only during times of sickness.
Lastly, the DC called upon people to refrain from putting excessive pressure on themselves.
Speaking as the resource person, Dr Kh Robindro, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist, District Mental Health Programme Chandel educated the students about various aspects of mental health.
Following this an open quiz competition was conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners.
