14th death anniversary of PadmaShri Guru Thingbaijam Babu Singh observed

The 14th death anniversary of PadmaShri Guru Thingbaijam Babu Singh was observed today at Manipur Jagoi Marup complex, Lamboi khongnangkhong.
As a part of the observation, a bust of PadmaShri Guru Thingbaijam Babu Singh was unveiled by Khwairakpam Raghumani, Uripok Assembly Constituency MLA and the attendees paid floral tributes to the newly unveiled bust.
On the occasion, dances composed by the Guru were also performed.
Renowned filmmaker Aribam Shyam Sharma and Director in-charge of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy Pukhrambam Bilash also graced the programme as the presidium members.
Speaking as the chief guest, Khwairakpam Raghumani expressed that Manipur has a rich heritage of indigenous art and culture which secures a significant place in the global platform.
He highlighted the importance of tracing the roots of this art and cultural heritage left by the forefathers and stressed on the need of preserving such art forms and to strive sincerely for its upliftment.
With regards to various grants provided by the Government for the promotion of art and culture, he assured to urge the authorities concerned to increase these grants.
He further maintained that he will extend best possible help from his side to all the needs and activities of Manipur Jagoi Marup.
The programme was also attended by many learned and renowned Dance Gurus.
